Belu and East Sumba in Nusa Tenggara Timur hit by severe drought.

Belu and East Sumba in Nusa Tenggara Timur are hit by severe drought.

So far only two regions have reported the disaster, but it is suspected that many other areas are also hit by similar disasters.

The drought that struck the district of Belu, has damaged more than 100 hectares (ha) of paddy in the district of West Tasifeto. While in East Sumba, the drought has caused crop failure and drying up of the rice fields.

There is no source of water for irrigating these rice fields, because at the moment they can only rely on rain water.
